On August 3, the Sutter County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to place the "Sutter County Safety/Water Protection Measure" on the November ballot.

If approved, the measure would enact an ongoing, local funding source, shared by the County and the Cities of Live Oak and Yuba City, to help fund basic services residents have identified as priorities: clean drinking water, fire protection, 911 response, sheriff and police services, and road repairs, among other items, with funds that the State of California can’t take.

Measure G was developed in collaboration with leaders from Live Oak and Yuba City and crafted in response to resident feedback through community meetings, mail, phone, email, and online outreach. Over 1,800 residents responded, and fire and public safety emerged as top concerns.

Measure G Ballot Question:

SUTTER COUNTY SAFETY/ WATER PROTECTION MEASURE. Shall the measure developed by Sutter County, City of Yuba City and City of Live Oak to ensure adequate drinking water supplies; prevent fire station closure; maintain countywide services such as fire/emergency medical response; sheriff's/police patrols; repairing roads; supporting local businesses; and other general purposes, by establishing a 1¢ sales tax until ended by voters, raising about $22,500,000 annually the State cannot take, requiring audits, citizens’ oversight, public review/ spending disclosure, be adopted?
