Q:  What is Measure G?
A:  Measure G is the "Sutter County Safety/Water Protection Measure" on your local Sutter County November ballot. If approved, Sutter County and Cities of Live Oak and Yuba City would share the Measure G proceeds to address what residents said matters most: clean drinking water, fire protection, 911 response, sheriff and police services, and road repairs. The State of California legally can't touch Measure G funds. 

Q:  Why was Measure G placed on the ballot?
A:  Two recent Sutter County Grand Jury reports and news stories show significant needs in fire safety, public safety, and road repair across Sutter County, Yuba City, and Live Oak. The county and cities asked residents, business owners, and community leaders what mattered most. Top priorities include:

• Ensuring adequate drinking water supplies 
• Maintaining fire, emergency medical, and Sheriff response times
• Repairing roads
• Replacing outdated lifesaving equipment
• Preventing fire station closures

Q:  How can Measure G impact my safety in Sutter County and local Cities?
A:  Measure G can address serious safety needs. A grand jury report found Sutter County and Live Oak have outdated fire equipment, staffing shortages, and not enough funding to meet these needs. Because of actions by the State of California, local cuts have already hit services since those reports were issued, and Live Oak may be without fire services soon. Today, as few as three sheriff deputy patrols cover 600 miles, and response times can reach 15 minutes. Without additional local funding, more cuts are coming to fire, sheriff, and 911 response. Measure G can help lower response times, protect our community, and keep all fire stations open, using local funding that must, by law, stay here.

Q:  Can roads be addressed by Measure G?
A:  A recent grand jury report found that funding for Yuba City road repairs is "severely deficient," and roads are getting worse as the city grows. Measure G can address this issue by creating a steady, locally controlled source of funding that can be used for road repairs and maintenance.

Q:  What accountability provisions are included in Measure G?
A:  Measure G requires annual independent financial audits, public review of expenditures, and ensures that all funds remain local in Sutter County, Yuba City, and Live Oak and cannot be taken by the State of California. These safeguards will ensure funds will be used efficiently and effectively, as promised.
