Home MenuTobacco Education Program
Sutter County Public Health’s Tobacco Education Program (TEP) aims to educate the community, our schools and retailers of the health risks and impacts of tobacco use and vaping.
The Tobacco Education Program offers educational classes and support using a multi-pronged approach targeted for students, parents, school staff, and retailers.
Student Education
The Tobacco Education Program provides cessation education and resources to Sutter County students at no cost. We can provide assistance with:
- Prevention, intervention and post-intervention education for middle and high school students
- Youth-focused tobacco and vaping cessation resources and materials
Curriculum
The curriculum used to educate youth was developed by the American Lung Association and is called Intervention for Nicotine Dependence: Education, Prevention, Tobacco, and Health (INDEPTH). Learn more about the curriculum by clicking here: INDEPTH One Pager.
Tobacco Retailer Education
We provide education and resources to tobacco retailers to ensure compliance with the California Tobacco 21 Law, the STAKE Act, and the Lee Law.
We also provide technical assistance and information on current local and state policies to help with compliance and decrease retailer exposure to misinformation.
School Staff and Parent Education
We provide education and resources to school staff and parents of students to help them understand the latest trends and lingo in tobacco use and vaping.
We also provide parents and staff with tools and resources to talk to their children and students about the dangers of tobacco-use and vaping.
